comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
Not every link on this site is an affiliate link. Many are simply references to sources,

What this does not change
A commission never buys a recommendation. We do not accept payment in exchange for a
favorable review, a ranking position, or coverage of a particular product.
Where we say a product is a poor choice, or that you do not need to buy anything at all, we
say it whether or not there is money attached to the alternative. If a cheaper option is the
right one, that is what you will read here.
How we form an opinion
Our guidance is based on published specifications, manufacturer documentation, standards and
safety information, and the practical experience described in each article. Where we have
not tested a product ourselves, we say so on the page rather than implying hands-on
experience we do not have. A product we have not used is listed and explained, never
reviewed.
Where a claim comes from a source, we link to that source so you can check it yourself.
What a lock page can and cannot promise
No lock, and no page about locks, makes a home secure. We explain what a standard tests
for, what a rating covers, and what a product's own documentation claims. We do not claim
that any product will prevent a break-in, because no honest source can.
Where a page touches installation on a door, or anything that affects how a door behaves in
a fire or an emergency exit, we say where the work stops being a home job and where local
building rules decide the answer instead of us.
